Mike is incredibly down
to earth, and dare I say an incredibly, adorable human being. So perk
up those ear drums ‘cause your about to get to know Mike Glita.
Tessa-How
do you like this year's tour?
Mike- This is the second show on the
tour , it’s going good, a little hectic cause we're just starting
out.
Tessa-I know I said this was going to be a “light interview”
but the album deals with heavy issues, why?
Mike-The whole record
in itself is about Buddy. He is talking about his depression and anxiety
and really shows his inner battles, religious faith- it became a concept
album. It’s our most cohesive one yet. This time it sound like how
it did in my head, which is rare. The emotion and energy came through
on the record.
Tessa-Has this whole band experience been just totally
crazy for you?
Yeah, just like anything you do it flys by, you start
high school and before you know it you’re a senior- where the fuck
did those 4 years go?
Like with the band I remember the first shows
we played but its almost a blur. It’s a rollercoaster to get to where
we are.
It takes a certain kind of person to be in this lifestyle.
You may not be making much money or eating much food or even showering
often for a long period of time. You just got to really want people
to hear your music and want to be where you are.
Tessa-How do
you keep up with relationships when your living this lifestyle?
Mike-If
your living on opposite sides of the country, let’s say N.J. and California,
if you really like each other your going to make it work. Relationships
always have rough times no matter what, but if it’s meant to be then
you’ll get through it. It’s just like being in a band if you enjoy
it you’ll work through the hard times.
A band is a full-time job. It’s
like you’re a doctor on call, it consumes your life.
Tessa-Did you
hear about that video game made about the Taste of Chaos bands?!
Mike-Yes!
I haven’t played it yet but the game if very Mortal-Combat-like Bert,
from The Used, has sheers for arms, and throws up on you like Baraka,
and only the singers are in it.
Tessa-Hey, what’s up wid' tat?
Mike-(Laughs)
Yeah, singers are up front...people identify with them more. I don’t
play in a band to be famous I play in a band because I like it, if
I could I’d love to be like the rolling stones and not have people
know who I am.
You got to remember where you came from because the
next day it (fame) might not be there anymore.
Tessa-Any place your
waiting to play at?
Mike-I’m really about how many people will be in
the crowd. This will be our first time playing Canada on this record
so that’s exciting to see how many show up. One of my goals was to
someday make it to Japan and we did that so I was happy. Were going
to be playing all of Europe and Mexico soon.
Tessa-Good luck
with all your travels! Raping it up give me your feelings on stage
in 3 words…
Mike-Crazy, larger-than-life( we’ll count this as one word),
sweet
.
